Meet the Directors
Yesenia Campos is the director of orchestras at Rockwall High School in Rockwall, TX. Mrs.Campos completed her graduate studies at Southern Methodist University and her undergraduate studies at West Texas A&M University. Her studies included work with world renowned soloist Chee-Yun Kim, mentors Annie Chalex, Tomas Cotik, and Dr. Keith Redpath.
As a violinist, Mrs. Campos has performed at several music festivals including the American Festival for the Arts, the Hot Springs Music Festival, and the Midwest Young Artist Music Festival which included masterclasses with Mark Kosower, Eugene Purdue, Young Nam Kim, and William Preucil. Mrs. Campos is currently a first violinist with the McKinney Philharmonic Orchestra. Mrs. Campos began her teaching career in Mesquite ISD in 2017. As an orchestra director, Mrs. Campos’ orchestras have received consecutive Sweepstake awards and have received numerous recognitions at various festivals including being awarded Outstanding Performance and Best in Festival. In addition to her teaching, Mrs. Campos is an active clinician and judge in the Dallas area and around the state. Her professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and Texas Music Adjudicators Association. When not conducting an orchestra, Mrs. Campos enjoys spending time with her husband, her two beautiful daughters, and her dog Sam. |
Mr. Hocott is currently the Assistant Orchestra Director at Rockwall High School, as well as, the orchestra teacher at Dobbs and Jones Elementary Schools in Rockwall ISD. Before coming to Rockwall, he served as the Orchestra Director at Martin Middle School in Austin ISD.
This past fall Mr. Hocott graduated with a Masters of Music at the Center for Music and Human Learning from the University of Texas at Austin, and also has worked as a freelance bass player and private lesson instructor in the Austin/Round Rock area. He has previously worked with organizations like the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, Austin Youth Symphony, and the University of Texas String Project, as well as, playing in the bass section of the Victoria Symphony and Round Rock Symphony. Mr. Hocott holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Arts and Philosophy from Vanderbilt University and has performed in various bluegrass and jazz ensembles all around Nashville and South Texas. In his free time, he likes to spend time traveling, hiking, fishing, or staying home with his wife and two cats. |
